Bernice Irene Carmody, 95, 1000 N. Eisenhower, Mason City, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Helen Elizabeth Harlan, age 72, passed away March 24, 2014 with her family at her side in Lone Tree, Colo. 

She was born Aug. 5, 1941 in Spirit Lake, Iowa.  She was retired from multiple careers that included the Parker Recreation Center and Diners Club International. 

Helen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Bob; children, Mary, Janie, and Jim; grandchildren, Ryan, Paige, Samantha, Sabrina, Max, and Alex.

Local RAGBRAI Planning Committee announced

The Clear Lake’s Planning Committee for RAGBRAI XLII has been announced.  

The Planning Committee is an independent committee with support of the City and Chamber of Commerce.  The group will plan all aspects of the festivities happening on July 23.  As a Pass-Through Town, Clear Lake is expected to welcome the riders and other guests, to provide food and water, and to provide a safe, positive environment.

Patricia Gilles

Patricia Anne Gilles, 98, formerly of Clear Lake, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday morning, March 22, 2014 at Bethany Manor in Story City, Iowa.  A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Bethany Manor, 212 Lafayette Ave., Story City, with Chaplain Sandy Anenson and Deacon Alan Christy officiating.  At a later date Pat will be inurned at Bradenton, Fla., next to her husband.
