Clear Lake man chased down, arrested on drug charges

Chad Tannahill, of Clear Lake, was arrested in Mason City Friday, March 7, on a charge of possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine. 

According to a report from the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested Tannahill, 45, shortly before 4 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of North Madison Avenue after a short foot chase. 

After a short investigation at the scene, deputies charged Tannahill possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class C felony, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

Diantha Kaye (Buss) Junker, 62, of Mason City, arrived home on Saturday, March 1, 2014, greeted by her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her precious daughter, Jennifer.  Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Faith Baptist Church, Mason City, with Rev. Miles Grismore and Pastor Dave Callison officiating.  Interment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, Iowa, in the spring.  Memorials given in Diantha’s memory will be given to 

Betty V. Harms

Betty V. Harms, 90, of Clear Lake, formerly of Hanlontown, Iowa, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.

A funeral service for Betty was held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Bride Colonial Chapel, Manly, Iowa, with the Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating.   Burial will be held at a later date in the Brush Point Cemetery, rural Hanlontown.

Erma R. Reid

  Erma Reid, 93, of Elkhorn, Neb., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

Erma Ruth (Miller) Reid was born Dec. 18, 1920 in Latimer, Iowa, the second child of Henry J. and Nellie (Carr) Miller.

A memorial service officiated by her niece, Rev. Lynette Meyer, of El Paso, Texas, will be held in Clear Lake this summer.

Garvis G. Houck

Garvis G. Houck, pharmacist and businessman, 81, of Mason City, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.  Memorial services were held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City, with Pastor Dan Gerrietts officiating.  Inurnment was in the Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Garvis Houck Memorial Fund in care of the family.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com. 

Bonnie J. Sunner

Bonnie Jane Sunner, 82, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

     Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, with Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating.  Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or the Clear Lake Library in her name.

Unity Christian stops Clear Lake girls at State

The Clear Lake girls started strong, but Unity Christian (21-4) outscored the Lions 35-18 in the second half  to oust the Lions in the Class 3A quarterfinal at the State Basketball Tournament Tuesday afternoon.  The Lions fell, 60-35.

Go-Hawks dash Lions’ post-season hopes

For the fourth straight year, the Clear Lake boys basketball team’s season came to an end at the hands of Waverly-Shell Rock Thursday, Feb. 27, in Mason City.
