Cardinals sweep Lions in Regional opener

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura volleyball team used an aggressive offense to defeat Clear Lake in the opening round of Regional volleyball Monday night at Garner.  The Cardinals swept the Lions, 25-15, 25-15, 25-7.

DiMarco will represent Clear Lake at State Meet

Clear Lake’s Antonio DiMarco earned his second trip to the State Cross County Meet 

Saturday with a seventh place finish at the State Qualifying Meet in Waverly Thursday, Oct. 24.

CL volleyball team wraps up regular season

Clear Lake wrapped up its regular and North Central Conference volleyball season with a 3-1 loss at Webster City Tuesday, Oct. 22. 

The Lynx opened the match with 25-8, 25-15 wins before the Lions could get on the board with a 25-22 victory.  Webster City got the decisive third win, 25-11.

The victory gave Webster City the NCC crown.

Nadine A. Price

Nadine Ann Price, 87, of Mason City, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at Good Shepherd Health Center.  A funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with Pastor Dean Hess officiating.  Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Nadine Price Memorial fund which will be given as contributions to Nadine’s favorite charities. 

Carol J. Young

Carol J. Young, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at her home at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kinney Lindstrom Center at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, with Pastor Rich Murray officiating.

The lake level dropped slightly to its new reading

Accident sends two to hospital

Two persons were hospitalized following a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 18 and Main Avenue, Ventura, Sunday, Oct. 27.

Sunday hours announced for City yard waste site

The City of Clear Lake’s Yard Waste Collection Site, located at 1419 2nd Ave. S., will be open three Sundays in November for city residents to dispose of loose yard waste.  On Nov. 3, 10 and 17 the site will be open from noon to 5 p.m.

Regular hours for the Yard Waste Collection Site are  Monday and Wednesday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The site is is also available during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
