Chamber asks public for fireworks memories

What do the Clear Lake fireworks mean to you?  How does it blend into your family traditions? How does it enhance your celebration of our nation’s birthday? 

These questions and more are what the Clear Lake Area Chamber is looking for.   It wants your 

stories, memories, traditions and sharing of how you and your family celebrate July 4th with Clear Lake’s fireworks.

Anthony “A.J.” Jon Morales

Anthony “A.J.” Jon Morales, 36, of Mason City,  formerly of Clear Lake, died Monday at home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 24, 2013 at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, with Dr. Rev. Rhoda Preston officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service.  Following the service he will be cremated and inurnment will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Clear Lake Cemetery.  Family suggests memorials to Anthony J. Morales memorial fund.  

Ardee M. Ahrendt

Ardee M. Ahrendt, 81, of Clear Lake, died on Oct. 16, 2013 at Concord Care Center in Garner, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at Galilean Lutheran Church, 4454 255th St., Hwy. 18 W., Clear Lake, with Rev. Scot McCluskey officiating.  Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church.  Inurnment was held in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake.  Family suggests memorials to Galilean Lutheran Church.

Lions clinch District title

The Clear Lake Lions cemented yet another District football title Friday night.  The Lions (8-0, 5-0) rolled past hapless Iowa Falls-Alden, 41-0, to clinch the District title and assure themselves of a number one seed in next week’s playoffs.  

Cardinals improve to 6-2 with win over Midgets

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals (6-2) barreled through the Estherville (2-6) defense Friday night en route to a decisive win over the Midgets.

Cardinals claim tournament championship

It’s the right time of the season to be on a roll and the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura volleyball team is right where they want to be heading into post season.  The Cardinals topped Rockford and won their own tournament last week.

Clear Lake boys second at Conference Meet

The Clear Lake boys cross country team saved their best for the North Central Conference Meet.  The Lions finished as runner-up in the meet, held at Eagle Grove, to fourth ranked Algona.  The Lions topped eighth ranked Fort Dodge St. Edmond and Humboldt for the first time this season.  

Clear Lake volleyball team readies for post-season

The Clear Lake volleyball team got some good matches in last week before tournament time gets underway.  Saturday the team posted a 2-4 record in their final Saturday tourney of the season at Algona.  The Lions also hosted Humboldt in their final conference match of the season Tuesday.
