Carol J. Young, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at her home at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake. There will be a Celebration of Life service on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Kinney Lindstrom Center at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, with Pastor Rich Murray officiating.

Carol Jean Young was born Jan. 5,
1931 in McGregor, Iowa, the daughter of Mark C. and Floy Melvin Young. She lived in Marquette, Iowa, until the time of her father’s death. She then lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Winifred and Cletus Friedman, in Moline, Ill. In 1971 she became one of the first residents of Opportunity Village. It has been her loving home for 42 years. She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and had a great love for family, friends, dogs and cappuccinos.
Survivors include her niece and guardian, Sara Macik (Edward), Bella Vista, Ark.; nephews, Mark (Judith)Friedman, Peoria, Ill., and Michael (Lona) Friedman, East Moline, Ill.; and brother-in-law, Cletus Friedman, East Moline; and many other nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Winifred Young Friedman and Mary Young Middy; brothers, Mark and Joe Young; and niece, Suzanne Jean Hanegmon.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapels, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
