Lynx end season for the Lions

The season came to a close for the Clear Lake soccer team in the first round of Sub-State played Monday, May 21, at Webster City.  For the second time in just over a week the Lynx dominated the Lions.  They won, 9-0

Team has a chance at new school record

     The Clear Lake girls soccer team equalled their best record (8-3) with a 4-0 win over Iowa Falls-Alden Thursday.  The Lions have two chances to set a new school record for wins with a match Tuesday at Mason City and the start of post-season play at Garner May 29.

Bernice Truesdell

    Bernice M. Truesdell, 95, of Ventura died Jan. 5, 2012 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake.
    Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, May 26, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the Rev. Diana Hoover officiating.  Family will greet friends one hour before the service.

Dave Oehlert

    Dave Oehlert, 63, of Clear Lake, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2012, at home.  The family suggest memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa.

    Alice Kramer, 97, of 1509 W. 7th Ave. N., Clear Lake, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

    Beverly Faith Swan, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and best friend, age 85, of St. Louis Park, Minn., went to be with her Lord on April 15, 2012. CLHS awards diplomas to 110 seniors

    Clear Lake High School held commencement ceremonies Sunday, May 20, for 110 graduating seniors.  The ceremony also included a moment of silence for former CLHS science teacher Blake Lobdell, who died unexpectedly in September,

Proposed noise ordinance quieted for a year

    Saying he wants to compromise, City Councilman Jim Boehnke proposed the City Council step back from its pursuit of a noise ordinance for a year.
    Boehnke said he doesn’t think the community wants a noise ordinance, but he wants to compromise and believes more study and communication is needed before any action can be taken.  Three others on the Council agreed Monday night and the proposed ordinance was tabled until the first regular Council meeting of May 2013.  Council

Appeal filed in Sunset School zoning case

Residents in the Sunset School neighborhood have filed an appeal with the Iowa Supreme Court in an attempt to overturn a District Court ruling upholding a decision by the City’s Board of Adjustment for proposed use of the school building.
