Evelyn  “Sue” Poole, 68, 409 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, Iowa, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.  

     A funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 24, at the Evangelical Free Church, Hwy. 18 W., Clear Lake, with Rev. Dan Jordan officiating.  Interment was at the Clear Lake Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Relay for Life or Hospice of North Iowa. 

Christopher Anderson

 

Christopher C. Anderson, 43, of Gun Barrel City, Texas, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012.  Memorial services were held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 at Cowboy Church of Erath County with Rev. Dean Bradley and Rev. Werth Mayes officiating.

Ruth Eames

 

Ruth Gertrude Binger Eames, 92, of Newton, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton, N.C. 

Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to bake.  Ruth was very involved in her community and started a dance studio and junior bowling league. Ruth was on the residence committee that helped develop a retirement park in Lady Lake, Fla. that has since grown to almost a thousand residences.

Delbert Watson

 

Delbert Watson, 76, of Clear Lake, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. 

  A funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012 at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with Rev. Bernie Colorado officiating.  Burial followed in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton, Iowa.  Memorials may be directed to the Delbert Watson Memorial Fund.

Girls add a win over Garrigan

The Clear Lake volleyball team blasted visiting Bishop Garrigan in a home match played Thursday, Sept. 20.  The Lions powered past the Golden Bears 25-10, 25-19, 25-10.

 

Humboldt interrupts Clear Lake district win streak

Humboldt erupted for 26 points in the second half on their way to a 26-10 victory over Clear Lake Friday night.  The win snapped the Lions’ 34 game district win streak and dropped the team to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 3A, District 3.

Despite these second half scoring blitz which brought the Wildcats (2-3, 2-1) from a 7-0 halftime deficit to the win, Clear Lake Coach Fred Wieck said his teams’ play in the first half was the difference.

Lion harriers hit mid-season stride

 

The Clear Lake cross country teams are running through the heart of their schedule, competing in two meets last week.  The Lions will participate in four meets over an 11 day stretch.

Humboldt Meet

The Lions ran at the highly competitive Humboldt Meet Monday, Sept. 17.  

Cards dominate in Homecoming win

 

It was a Homecoming to remember for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura football team, as they dominated East Sac County, 41-6.

Cardinals stick with powerhouse Lake Mills in four game match

 

Sine 1999 the Cardinal volleyball team has been 0-76 against powerhouse Lake Mills.  But on Tuesday, Sept. 18, that streak ended as G-H/V won set two, 25-21, in a four game match.
