Cowboys capture win over Clear Lake

 

The Clarion Cowboys pulled out a 37-32 win Thursday night in a packed Clear Lake gym. 

 

“Our crowd was amazing,” stated Lion Coach Gary Weber.  “I just wish we would have performed a little better to pull out a win for them.”

Cardinals garner three more wins

 

It was very productive week for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys, as they picked up three more wins.  The Cardinals are in a three way tie for third place in the North Iowa Conference with a record of 3-2.  Belmond-Klemme, 6-0, and North Iowa, 7-0, are currently leading the conference.

 

G-H/V 60, Osage 51

A strong first half helped the G-H/V boys cruise to a victory over Osage on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Four G-H/V wrestlers place at tournament

 

    The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura wres-tling team had a busy week, wrestling at Central Springs on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at West Hancock on Thursday, Dec. 13, and competing in the Glenn Brand Tournament at Clarion on Saturday, Dec. 15.

At Central Springs, the Cardinals wrestled against Forest City and Central Springs in a triangular.  G-H/V dropped both matches. 

Slippery conditions send vehicles into I-35 ditches

 

(Pictured right) Weather is being blamed for a single vehicle accident Monday morning just north of Clear Lake on I-35.  Shala Strickland, 21, of Burkburnett, Texas, was southbound on I-35 when the vehicle she was driving apparently hit a patch of light snow.  

Early deadlines in effect for next two issues of your Mirror-Reporter

 

The upcoming Christmas and New Years holidays on Tuesdays have forced a change in deadlines for the next two issues of the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter.  Although the newspaper will be published, as usual, on Wednesday Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, the deadline for each of those issues will be the preceding Thursday. 

The deadline for the next issue of the Mirror-Reporter is this Thursday, Dec. 20.

School district responds to safety concerns

 

In the aftermath of a mass shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut Friday, parents and school leaders here are re-evaluating the readiness of our schools to avert another tragedy.

Pay attention: Three-way stop placed at North Shore intersection

 

A three-way stop sign is expected to be in place today (Wednesday, Dec. 19) at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Buddy Holly Place.  

The Clear Lake City Council approved an ordinance allowing the three-way stop at its meeting Monday.  Enforcement of the traffic sign will begin immediately after placement.  

Ice in, Aerators on

 

Lake users advised to use caution

 

Clear Lake officially froze Dec. 11. 

With the onset of ice cover, officials with the Iowa DNR would like to remind lake users that the winter aeration system is now operating.  The aerators are located on the east shore in front of the water 

Wrapping up Giving Tree

All of the 215 ornaments on the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter’s Giving Tree were checked out and gifts are now on their way to local families requesting some additional help this holiday season.
