Slippery conditions send vehicles into I-35 ditches
(Pictured right) Weather is being blamed for a single vehicle accident Monday morning just north of Clear Lake on I-35. Shala Strickland, 21, of Burkburnett, Texas, was southbound on I-35 when the vehicle she was driving apparently hit a patch of light snow.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, she lost control of the Dodge pickup she was driving. The vehicle ended up on its top in the median. The accident was reported at 8:22 a.m. Strickland, along with passengers Troy Larson, 27, and McKenly Larson, two-years, were treated for minor injuries and released. Emergency workers were also being kept busy Tuesday morning, as light snow fell and created slippery conditions. Tony’s, of Clear Lake, reported it had been called out to pull six vehicles from I-35 ditches in the Clear Lake area before noon Tuesday.-Reporter photo by Chris Barragy.
