Cardinals split games around holiday

 

The G-H/V baseball team had an up and down week.  The Cardinals split games with North Iowa foes before the holiday, then split a pair of games played at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo Monday, July 8.  The .500 week put the Cardinals at 10-16 overall.

Regular season closes for G-H/V girls

 

The G-H/V softball team finished the regular season with a pair of losses to North Iowa teams.  They closed the regular season with a 1-27 mark and were slated to begin post-season play Tuesday at Forest City against the Indians.

The lake level dropped 1.44” to its new reading

 of +1.68” above the weir.  Last year the lake measured 15.0” below the weir.

Lake hosts another successful event

Clear Lake’s Fourth of July celebration is billed as the “Biggest and Best in Iowa.”  This year did not disappoint, as thousands enjoyed a full five days of carnival fun, 

musical entertainment, parade, fireworks and, of course, fun on the lake.

Public shares design ideas for water tower site, Sea Wall area

 

Updated, relatively easy upgrades and improvements were suggested for the former Main Street water tower site during public “design studios” held before the Fourth of July holiday.

Wooden boat show cancelled

 

Organizers of the Clear Lake Antique and Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous have announced they have cancelled their 2013 gathering, which had been scheduled July 20.  According to Chamber of Commerce 

Tourism Director Libbey Patton, fewer than anticipated club members were going to be available to attend.   

Last year the group decided to cancel due to the low water level of the lake.  However, Patton said the group hopes to revive the event in 2015.

DNR responds to call at Farmer’s Beach

 

The long awaited warm weather, combined with a long holiday weekend, filled Clear Lake with activity.  But with the exception of an underage drinking incident at Farmer’s Beach still under investigation, it was a safe holiday on the lake, according to State Conservation Officer Ben Bergman.
