Five day celebration begins today!

 

The biggest and best 4th of July Celebration is ready to begin!

Five jam packed days of fun will begin today (Wednesday, July 3) with the Evans United Shows Carnival at 5 p.m. and will continue through Sunday, July 7. Wristband days will 

be noon to 5 p.m. on Friday, July 5, and Sunday, July 7, for just $17.

David Kingland, CEO and Chairman of the Board, announced Monday that Todd Rognes, current CFO and partner, has been named president of Kingland Systems Corporation.

Tesar, Christ will seek re-election to School Board

 

The Iowa Association of School Boards urges Iowans who are passionate about education to consider running for election to their local school boards.  Nominations for open seats on the state’s 345 local public school boards can be filed between July 8 and Aug. 1, 2013. School board elections will take place Sept. 10.

‘Hero’ couple honored as parade Grand Marshal

Gene and Bobbe Madson say they have enjoyed Clear Lake’s biggest and best Fourth of July celebration for 45-years.  This year, they will experience a key piece of the holiday festivities in an entirely new way-- as Grand Marshals of the parade.

CL School District’s Transportation Director put on administrative leave

 

Clear Lake School District Building & Grounds/Transportation Director Kelly McLaughlin has been placed on

 paid administrative leave, Superintendent Anita Micich confirmed Tuesday.

Micich said the leave is not disciplinary in nature.  She refused further comment on the personnel matter.

Roberta M. Newell

 

Roberta Marie Newell, 94, 1037 19th St. S.W., Mason City, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with  Rev. Dr. Rhoda Preston of Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, officiating.  Family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.

Raleigh M. Bagby

 

Raleigh Mac Bagby, 62, Clear Lake, died Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the North Iowa Mercy Medical Center, Mason City.  

A Memorial Mass was held Monday, June 24, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with Rev. John Gossman and Msgr. Joseph Slepicka officiating.  Inurnment was at the Clear Lake Cemetery.  Raleigh

Russell O. Fulghum

 

Russell Owen Fulghum, 88, 400 Hwy. 18 W., Clear Lake, died Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.  

A Celebration of Life service was held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Christian Church, Clear Lake, with Rev. Scott Wilson officiating.  Committal services followed in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, where military honors were conducted by the Clear Lake V.F.W.  

Lions can boast best record in the state

 

With six more wins in the past week, Clear Lake improved to 20-1 overall and 9-0 in the North Central Conference.  The top ranked team in Class 3A currently has the best record of any team in the entire state in any class.
