 The public is invited to attend Clear Lake’s Memorial Day program Monday, May 26. Services will begin at the Clear Lake Sea Wall on Main Avenue at 9:30 a.m. U.S. Army Veteran Dave Theiss will provide the welcome, followed by an opening prayer from 

City sets hearing for property sale to Opportunity Village

 The Clear Lake City Council has scheduled a public hearing for Monday, June 2, to consider the sale of property on South 3rd Street to Opportunity Village for the construction of a new residential building.

Doris N. Voight

Doris N. Voigt, 93, of Mason City, and formerly of Clear Lake, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral service for Doris will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th Street, Clear 

Lake with Pastor Kirk Wilke officiating.  A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Geneva Cemetery in Geneva, Minn.  A visitation with a public viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Tuesday.

 A Celebration of Life for Phyllis Marie Anderson will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial

Lawrence D. Tibbits

     Lawrence Donald Tibbits, 93, 20 N. 4th St., #312 Clear Lake, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at his home. A funeral service was held on Monday, May 19, at the Fertile Lutheran Church, Fertile, Iowa, with Rev. Dave Halvorsen officiating. Inurnment was at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Keith Markwardt, 75, of Mason City, died Monday, May 19, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City.

Patricia Ann Bahling, 1305 2nd Ave. NE, Clear Lake, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. 

     A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Rev. Bernie Colorado officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial

Karen Jo Bird

 Karen Jo (Baker) Bird, 72, of Mason City, passed away Friday, May, 2014, surrounded by loved ones at the Good Shepherd Health Center. There was a Celebration of Life Open House for Karen on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at St. James Lutheran Church, Mason City. Per Karen’s wishes, her body was cremated. Memorials may be directed to the family of Karen Bird, 305 27th St. 

Barbara J. Beach

 Barbara Jean Beach, 71, of 1012 N. 5th St., Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at her home. Do to her wishes, she was cremated. Family and friends gathered at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel on Saturday, May 10, 2014 to share memories and to celebrate her life. Family suggest memorials to Barbara Jean Beach Memorial Fund.

Lions give 3rd ranked W-SR run for the money

The Clear Lake boys soccer team advanced to the championship game and gave third ranked (2A) Waverly-Shell Rock all they could handle at the Waverly Soccer Tournament played Saturday, May 10. The title game was deadlocked a 0-0 after 60-minutes of play. The Go-Hawks eventually won the championship in a shoot out.
