Patricia A. Bahling

Patricia Ann Bahling, 1305 2nd Ave. NE, Clear Lake, died Saturday, May 10, 2014, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. 

     A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Rev. Bernie Colorado officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial

 Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, and one hour preceding the service at the church.  Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 122 W, Mason City.  Memorials may be given to the Department of the Blind in Des Moines, Iowa, or the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

     Pat was born July 19, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Carl Edward and Lenna Rose (Ayers) Bahling.  She graduated from Mason City High School in 1953 and attended St. Vincent’s School of Nursing, Little Rock, Ark., where she obtained a nursing degree.  She worked as a nurse for 37 ½ years, retiring in 1992 due to health issues. 

     Pat was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church and past president and secretary of the United Methodist Women.  She was very active at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church with the women’s groups and in the kitchen.  With the UMW, Pat and Carol headed the lunch wagon for Gordon Taylor’s Auctions for 10 years.  She started the Prayer Quilts for the CLUM Church.  She enjoyed sewing, making prom dresses for her nieces.   Pat volunteered at the food bank in Mason City. 

     She loved her little dogs, ALL named Suzie. 

     Pat is survived by her dear friend, Carol Carlson, Clear Lake;  one sister, Betty Torgerson, Arkadelphia, Ark.; nieces and nephews, Ann Welch, Adel, Iowa, Judy (Gary) Hickle, Floyd, Iowa, John (Jenean) Reveland, Charles City, Iowa, Edward Schroeder, Alabama, Davyne Hansen, Gurdon, Ark; great-nieces and nephews, Kevin (Phyllis) Welch, Minneapolis, Minn., Jeannie (Chris London) Welch, Pittsburg, Pa., Amy (R.J.) Pushnok, Pittsburg, Carly (Brad) Kalina, Des Moines, Iowa, Jessica Reveland, New Hampton, Iowa, and Allan Reveland, Boise, Idaho; and her family of friends.

     Pat was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy Reveland and Edith Schroeder; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
