Results announced for Bicycle, Blues and Barbecue races

Clear Lake played host to hundreds of bicyclists during the Bicycle, Blues and Barbecue event held the weekend of July 6-8.  The party started on Friday night in City Park, downtown Clear Lake, with barbecue and live music.  

Alliant urges conservation with continued hot weather

    Interstate Power and Light Co. (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, announced again Tuesday it would cycle air conditioners for all participating Iowa customers. Weather conditions were such that from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. customers enrolled in the Appliance Cycling program had their air conditioner cycled in 15-minute intervals to reduce overall energy usage.

Chamber gives visitors a new way to tour Clear Lake

    The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is giving visitors another way to enjoy Clear Lake-- by bike!
    Due to popular visitor demand, the Chamber is now renting bicycles at its Visitor Center, 205 Main Ave.

David Michael Stumo

    David Michael Stumo, 47, of Clear Lake, died July 5, 2012, at his home.
    Due to his wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later time.

John Latham

    John David Latham, 77, of 303 S. Union St., Ottumwa, Iowa, died July 5, 2012.
    He was born March 31, 1935, in Clear Lake to Francis Henry and Edna Margaret Buffington Latham.

William Riley

    William G. Riley, 83, of Clear Lake, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at his residence.   Upon his wishes, he was cremated and there are no formal services scheduled.  Inurnment will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa in his name.

Nancy Munyon

     Nancy Mae Munyon passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Fort Madison Health Center, Fort Madison, Iowa.
    Services were held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Fort Madison United Methodist Church.  Pastor Brenda Goodall officiated.  Per her wishes, her body was cremated with burial of ashes at Oakland Park Cemetery.  Memorials can be given to Lee County Hospice or the Fort Madison United Methodist Church.
