Evans looks forward to returning to Clear Lake

The name Evans is almost synonymous with the Fourth of July in Clear Lake.  This year marks the 40th anniversary the family-owned business has provided the centerpiece carnival for the local celebration.  Owners Tom and Nancy 

Evans will serve as honorary Grand Marshals in the July 4th Parade.

Evans United Shows Inc. is based in Plattsburg, Mo., but the Evans consider Clear Lake to be almost a second home.  They say they look forward to each Independence Day because they know they will be spending it with their Clear Lake friends.

“It’s always like coming home to be in Clear Lake.  We appreciate and thank you,” said Nancy Evans during a special presentation made to the couple on the 25th anniversary of their participation in the local celebration.  The couple also rode in the parade that year, although their route was shortened slightly when the car they were riding in broke down.  Cheered on by the crowd, including many Evans employees, Tom helped to push the car off the route.

Founded in 1947, Evans United Shows is a third-generation family-owned business run today by Tom and Jim Evans, two sons of one of the original brothers.  Family involvement in the business is continuing into a fourth generation, as Tom and
