Ventura, G-H voters favor consolidation

Measure earned 93 percent approval

 

Voters in Ventura and Garner-Hayfield School Districts overwhelmingly voted Tuesday to consolidate their districts, effective July 1, 2015. Overall, 93 percent of voters approved of the reorganization.

Progress being made on new water tower; interest expressed in old tower

 The final ring of steel on the city’s newest 1 million gallon water tower is being attached and paint will be applied to the new northwest water tower during the month of September.

Air Choice One chosen to serve MC Airport

 Monday, the Department of Transportation awarded a two-year EAS contract to St. Louis based airline, Air Choice One.
Air Choice One is set to begin service out of the Mason City Municipal Airport in early November 2014. The area’s new air carrier is also introducing a new hub to the citizens of Mason City – Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Chicago O’Hare is the second largest international airport in the United States.

Police: Theives are looking for openings

 Clear Lake police are encouraging residents to keep all doors locked and remove keys from vehicles in the wake of a rash of burglaries and thefts in the past week
A total of 18 burglaries and thefts have been reported to the Clear Lake Police Department between Aug. 9 and 18, according to Christina Yates, civilian support
