CL girls pick up first win of the season

    The Clear Lake girls picked up their first win of the season, treating the home crowd to a 57-33 win over Eagle Grove Friday, Dec. 2.  The team readied for the game with a tough outing against North Central Conference power Algona on Tuesday, Nov. 29.  The Bulldogs topped the Lions, 51-31.

CL grapplers fall to St. Eds, 34-31

The Clear Lake wrestling team gave it all they had Thursday evening, but came up three points short in their first match of the season.  The visiting Fort Dodge St. Edmond Gaels won the last match of the night to pull out the win, 34-31.

Ventura Lady Vikes roll over CWL, 52-13

    The Ventura girls basketball team opened the 2011-12 season with a conference win and two non-conference loses.

    The Lady Vikes rolled over Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne, 52-13, in the first game of the season.  The Panthers didn’t stand a chance against Ventura’s aggressive defense.

Council approves funding for NI Corridor group

    The Clear Lake City Council gave its approval Monday night to a multi­year funding agreement with the  North Iowa Corridor EDC (NICEDC).  The group replaces the former Clear Lake Economic Development, which has dissolved.

Ornaments remain on The Giving Tree

    With only about one week remaining until its scheduled deadline, approximately 55 ornaments remain hanging on The Giving Tree at the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter office.

Emily Lewis-Evans

    Emily K. Lewis-Evans, formerly of Clear Lake, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at the age of 80. A memorial celebration of life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Five Acres Animal Shelter.     Helen Lucille Ford Lauber, 512 North Third Street, Clear Lake, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 at Oakwood Care Center, just two days before her 92nd birthday, in a defiant effort to die young.
