    Byron W. Everett, age 83, of Latimer, Iowa died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the Solara Hospital in McAllen, Texas.
    Funeral services for Byron W. Everett were held Saturday April 14, at the St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Burial will take place at a later date in the St Paul’s Lutheran Church cemetery.

    Pastor Kermit M. Roisen, 86, Des Moines, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord, April 8, 2012.  Kermit, born Oct. 18, 1925 in Albert Lea, Minn. was the oldest of four children born to Olaf and Alma Roisen, Norwegian immigrants.

    Mary Ann Walker, 69, passed away peacefully Monday, March 26, 2012 at home surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer. Cremation rites have been accorded.

    Martha “Marty” Ouverson, 70, of Clear Lake, died Jan. 14, 2011 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

    Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Clear Lake Cemetery with the Rev. Diana Hoover officiating.

    Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Handfield

    Ruth M. Handfield, 89, of Clear Lake, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. According to her wishes she was cremated and no services will be held at this time.

Trial date set for Lake man facing attempted murder charges

    A 30-year-old Clear Lake man will stand trial on charges of  Solicitation to Commit Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Attempted Murder at 1:30 p.m. May 29, in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
    Alan Michael Cannon, 1331 N. 7th St., Apartment C, entered a not guilty plea to the charges on Monday, April 16.
    Cannon was arrested at his home on March 27 by the Clear Lake Police Department.
