Ruth Handfield

    Ruth M. Handfield, 89, of Clear Lake, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. According to her wishes she was cremated and no services will be held at this time.

    Ruth was born July 9, 1922 in Dresden, Germany the daughter of Eric and Charlotte Marianna (Huffman) Grunewald. Ruth married  United States Army SGM Donald F. Handfield and they moved to the United States in 1949.
    She moved to Clear Lake ten years ago from Inverness, Fla. with her son and daughter-in-law.
    She is survived by her two sons, Randolph J. (Stephanie Robin) Handfield, Clear Lake, and Peter M. Handfield, Rutland, Vt.; two grandchildren, Alex (Karen) Felton, Lake City, Fla. and Mallory Felton, Mason City, Iowa; three great-grandchildren in Lake City; a niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Wallace Handfield and a great-nephew, Stevens Handfield all of Poultney, Vt. 
    She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charlotte Marianna Grunewald and her husband, Donald in 1973. 
    Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
