William Riley

    William G. Riley, 83, of Clear Lake, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at his residence.   Upon his wishes, he was cremated and there are no formal services scheduled.  Inurnment will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa in his name.

Nancy Munyon

     Nancy Mae Munyon passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the Fort Madison Health Center, Fort Madison, Iowa.
    Services were held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Fort Madison United Methodist Church.  Pastor Brenda Goodall officiated.  Per her wishes, her body was cremated with burial of ashes at Oakland Park Cemetery.  Memorials can be given to Lee County Hospice or the Fort Madison United Methodist Church.

Chad Davis

     Chad Davis, 41, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at his home of a heart attack.
    A gathering of family and friends for a celebration and sharing of memories of Chad’s life was held Sunday July 8, 2012.
    Chad was born Nov. 15, 1970 in Belmond, Iowa the son of Ron and Russalyn (Gaetzke) Davis.  He graduated from Ventura High School in 1989.

    Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce officials reported an estimated 15,000 to 20,000 persons attended its Fourth of July parade and 25,000 plus were on hand to watch fireworks shot over the lake Wednesday night. 

City inks contract with public works employees

    The Clear Lake City Council has approved a new three-year contract with public works department employees.
    The Council voted unanimously Monday, July 2, to a wage increase of 1.75 percent each July 1 and a 1.5 percent wage increase each Jan. 1 of the contract, July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2015.

Investigation continues into accident

    Three people were injured while exiting a carnival ride Monday in Clear Lake City Park.
    At 4:12 p.m. Clear Lake police responded to a call that three individuals were injured at “The Hurricane” ride, owned by Evans United Shows.  When officers arrived it was discovered that the persons were on the ride
