Council inks tower agreement with CL Tel

    The Clear Lake City Council continues to lay the groundwork for the demolition of the water tower near City Beach.  Monday night the Council approved a letter of intent with CL Tel Wireless to construct a monopole near the police department to provide for the relocation of CL Tel’s cellular antennas and police communication equipment from the water tower to the monopole.

Hydrants to be flushed in Ventura June 21-22

    The City of Ventura has announced hydrant flushing will take place Thursday and Friday, June 21-22.  Residents may notice a loss in water pressure and discoloration

during the flushing.  The water remains safe to drink, however caution should be used if doing laundry.

Opportunity Village plans transition of on-campus services

Opportunity Village plans to create more community-based, smaller homes for individuals it supports over the next four to five years.
     “For a long time, we have wanted to decrease the number of people living under one roof in our Clear Lake campus homes,” said John Severtson, CEO at Clear Lake’s largest employer.  “Smaller living arrangements offer more personal attention, quieter settings and more community integration.”

Dynamic duo tie for first in Co-Ed State Meet

    The brother and sister duo of Luke and Meg Monson capped off great high school golfing careers at Clear Lake High School by tying for first in the Class 2A State Co-Ed Golf Tournament.

Lions rack up some big wins

   The Clear Lake baseball team racked up some big wins during the week, but probably none bigger than knocking off defending North Central Conference champion St. Ed’s, 8-2.  Later in the week Iowa Falls-Alden surprised the Lions, topping them 3-1.  The Lions’ record now stands at 11-3.

CLHS golfers earn All-State honors

     Three Clear Lake High School golfers have earned All-State honors from the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association.

Wildcats dominate Lions in NCC softball action

After a week off from action, the Clear Lake girls softball team was back in action Monday night, June 11.  The Lions hosted Humboldt (10-5) in a North Central Conference matchup.  This week the Lions are at Webster City tonight

(June 13) for another NCC tilt, then will host Mason City Thursday and Eagle Grove Friday.

Christopher Crotty

    Christopher “Chris” Carl Crotty, 52, of 210 W. 10th Ave. N., Clear Lake, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
    Due to his wishes he was cremated and graveside services were held Monday, June 11, at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Rescue boat delivered to city
