Museum to
hold Kids Day
on Sunday
The Kinney Pioneer Museum
will host its annual Kids Day at the
Museum on Sunday, Aug. 16, from
1-5 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults
and $1 for children.
The day will be filled to things
geared to children: Sack races, writ-
ing with quills with home made
ink, typing on old type writers, and
washing clothes. The rug weaver, the
broom maker and the blacksmith will
all be on hand, demonstrating their
skills. Their crafts will be available for North Central Iowa summer
purchase.
Levey the Great will perform a
Magic Show at 2 p.m. and there will
be a small train for train rides around
the lawn for a charge of $1.
Hotdogs roasted over the open
fire, smore’s, cookies and drinks will
be available.
The museum is located on
Highway 122 at the entrance to the
Mason City Airport.

The Lifelong Learning Institute
at North Iowa Area Community Col-
lege (NIACC) invites the public to a
Kick-off Coffee on Wednesday, Aug.
19 at 10 a.m. at the Muse Norris
Conference Center on the NIACC
campus. The event is free and open to
the public.
The Kick-off Coffee event pro-
vides an opportunity for people to
learn about fall classes and meet in-
structors. Those who are interested
in learning more about Lifelong
Learning Institute opportunities are
encouraged to call 641-422-4358 to
register for the coffee or to request a
catalog.
The Lifelong Learning Institute
is a great opportunity for adults of all
ages who are interested in continuing
to learn about college level subjects in
short classes without grades or exams.
A variety of topics are offered, includ-
ing Storm Chasing, Calligraphy, The
History of Rock-n-Roll Music: 1920-
1993, Utopia in America, and Cre-
ating the Best Retirement for Your
Personality, along with many classes
about literature, history, fitness, cur-
rent events, and more.
A $99 annual membership fee
allows members to register for any or
all classes for the fall and the spring
semester without additional tuition.
Members become NIACC stu-
dents with student ID’s and enjoy ac-
cess to the library and other NIACC
facilities. The new Lifelong Learn-
