Remember When 7-17-2019

(Above) Model T convention, 1994The Clear Lake High School practice field was transformed into a Model T showcase in 1994, as those attending the Model T Ford Club International Tour pulled their cars in for judging.  Organizers said 379 cars and more than 2,000 persons registered for the convention.  According to a formula devised by the Iowa Division of Tourism, the Model T convention could have given the local economy a $1.6 million boost.

Marlene E. Bartlett, 85, of Rockwell, died on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the IOOF Home, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware, Mason City. Visitation will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, July 19, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.  Interment will be held in Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery.

Per Ruth’s wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa, and a Celebration of Life will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2019, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Ruth Lease Memorial Fund.

Clear Lake ends GHV’s season with 17-7 victory in first round

Scorekeepers were kept busy Wednesday night during a high-scoring contest between Clear Lake and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura.  The Lions hosted the first round post-season game and topped GHV, 17-7, to move on.
