Harlan Seri officiating.  Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Following the service a luncheon and sharing of memories will be held. Memorials may be given to First Congregational Church.

Delano August Winter was born on Aug. 27, 1933 in Sibley, Iowa to Herman and Meta (Jantzen) Winter. He grew up on the family farm in Sibley and graduated from Sibley High School in 1951. He was proud of his service in the United States Air Force.

After his honorable discharge he attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. Upon graduation, he worked for various companies in the agricultural field. He eventually ran his own business, Hawkeye Tanks, until his retirement.

Del met his wife, Harriet Jones, in Sibley. They were married on June 26, 1954 and were blessed with five daughters: Susan, Karen, Ellen, Lori and Lisa. As a young family, they lived in several states including Texas, Virginia, South Dakota, Minnesota and

Ohio. The family settled in Clear Lake in 1968, and made their home there for more than 50 years. Favorite memories include 4th of July celebrations and family get-togethers.

Del enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and camping. For many years, Del and Harriet wintered in Arizona and enjoyed yearly trips to Branson, Missouri and the North Shore of Lake Superior.  Fishing trips to Minnesota with his sons-in-law were a favorite time for him. To his family, he was larger than life and they will forever cherish his stories, wisdom and love as their father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Del is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Susan and David Latta, Plymouth, Minn.; Karen and Craig Shayer, Clear Lake; Lori and Kirk Muhlenbruck, Northfield, Minn.; Lisa and Jeff Anderson, Ames; Dan (Patti) Morehouse, Faribault, Minn.; his sister

Delores Mouw of Sibley, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He joins Harriet, daughter Ellen, his parents and siblings Delma and Delbert in Heaven.

Ward Van Slyke is in charge of arrangements.
