Michael George Smith, 78, of Ventura, died in Iowa City on Nov. 16, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Michael George Smith was born on July 5, 1945, to Clyde and Grace (Groen) Smith, in Mason City.  He graduated from Ventura High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 and earned the rank of E4 Sergeant.  He farmed until 2012.

He married Betty (Walters) Smith on March 3, 1984, in Mason City.

Mick enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar, riding his Harley, and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Ventura; his children, David (Lisa) Ohrt, Britt, Linda (Eric) Howell, Mason City and Randy (Leslie) Ohrt, Thornton; brother, Russ (Bobbie) Smith; sister-in-law, Rakel Smith; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vivian and Frances; and three brothers, Kenny Smith, Virgil Smith and Donnie Smith.
