Jim L. Goetsch
Jim L. “Jimmy” Goetsch, 66, of Lakewood, Colo., passed away unexpectedly at Denver General Hospital from surgical complications on August 4, 2023.
Jimmy was born on March 23, 1957, to parents Harold (Gene) and Louise (Baade) Goetsch in Mason City. Jimmy graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1976.
Jimmy was a free spirit, moving from place to place working in the construction and landscaping industry. He was briefly married to Leslie Icke and resided for the past 25 years in the Denver, Colo. area. He was known by his friends as a computer whiz, consummate landscaping pro and the “king” of amazing stories. Jimmy was truly an altruistic person, it was said that he would give the shirt off his back to someone in need, even if he didn’t have another. He deeply cared for those in need, particularly the plight of the homeless, which he experienced in life.
Jimmy is survived by brothers, Michael Buns (Deb Matney) of Ames, Iowa, Craig Goetsch (Judy) of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kurt Goetsch (Andrea Stewart) of Fort Collins, Colo.; sisters, Patricia Hardie (John) of Montrose, Colo. and Lori Scalis (Kyle) of Anchorage, Ala.. along with many friends and relatives.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rick Stoltzfus, Steven Goetsch and Jeffrey Goetsch.
Several celebrations of life events have been planned. The first event will be held at Walker Branch Park on Labor Day, Sept. 4, which will be a barbecue to feed the homeless. The second event will be held at Kings Rest, where Jim resided, tentatively set for Sept. 24.
A special thank you to friends, Sarah Shroeder and Brian Derry for all of their help.
