Gregory G. Anderson

Gregory Anderson, Edina, Minn, passed away on Oct. 24, 2022, at 61 years young.

Gregory was born in Mason City, the youngest of Robert and Dorothy Anderson’s six children.  He was raised in a Christian home on their family farm.  He studied construction engineering at Iowa State University, where he met his bride, Julie Neal.  Greg started his career out east, and settled in Edina with Julie to raise their three kids.  

He started Anderson Companies, a construction and development company that he led for over 23 years.  Greg cared deeply about those he worked with and the clients he served in the community.

He had many titles: hardworking son, loving brother, dear husband, insightful entrepreneur, tenacious leader, beloved friend, and his favorite being “Dad” and later, “Papa.”  As much as Greg loved his work, family was always his first priority.

In 2017, Greg survived cancer and over the next five years, he danced at all of his kids’ weddings and welcomed two grandchildren, with a third due December 2022.  In summer 2022, a more aggressive cancer appeared.  Greg and his family fought hard and unfortunately he was taken too soon.

Greg passed peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by family.

Greg is survived by his wife of 37 years, Julie; his three children, Scott (Alyssa), Katie (Bobby) Johnson and Maggie (Kevin) Coquillette; grandchildren, Beau and Dorothy; his siblings, Tom (Kathy), Carolyn (Dave) Luscomb and Jackie (Bob) Mathewson; in-laws, Robert and Barbara Neal; siblings-in-laws, John Neal, Jenn (Todd) Myers, Diana Neal and Maria Anderson; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy; his brother, Robert Jr.; his sister, Jill and her husband, Steve Schultz; his two nieces, Alice and Emily Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at the Meetinghouse Church (formerly Colonial Church) in Edina.  Live stream is available via the church’s YouTube Channel.  Private family interment will be held.
