Geraldine V. Washburn

Geraldine “Jeri” Verone Washburn, 95, of Clear Lake, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2022 at the IOOF Home in Mason City, surrounded by loved ones. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 301 1st Ave. N, Clear Lake, with Pastor Jason Reynolds officiating. Burial will be held in Grant Township Cemetery, Fertile, Iowa.

  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

  Family suggests that Memorials be directed to MercyOne Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.

Jeri was born on Jan. 25, 1927, the daughter of Jasper and Nora (Mestad) Humphrey of Fertile. She was a graduate of Fertile High School. On May 9, 1948, Jeri married Leonard Evertt Washburn, and from this union two sons were born. Over the years Jeri worked various occupations at the local grocery store, Oakwood Care Center, and in the Clear Lake School system.

  In Jeri’s free time she enjoyed fishing, camping and volunteering for Clear Lake Regular Baptist Church. Jeri often taught Sunday School, Bible School in the summer and was a cook at the Regular Baptist Camp on the North Shore on Clear Lake. She loved her family unconditionally and cherished any moment she got to spend with them.

  Those left to cherish memories of Jeri are her children, Lowell (Carol) Washburn, and Sterling (Cindy) Washburn, both of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Jennifer (Paul) Stover, Ankeny, Iowa, Justin (Leah) Washburn, Urbandale, Iowa, Matt (Renee) Washburn, Ventura, Iowa, and Melissa (Austin) Woodin, Story City, Iowa; 11 great-grandchildren, Sydney Stover, Jayden Stover, Evelyn Washburn, Nolan Washburn, Jackson Washburn, Natalie Washburn, Riley Washburn, Harper Woodin, Grayden Woodin, Lochlyn Woodin, Finleigh Woodin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

  Jeri is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Washburn; both of her parents; grandson, Travis Washburn; siblings, Curtis Humphrey, Evelyn Luker, Howard Humphrey, and Romane Lovik. 

Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
