Bonnie J. Sunner
Bonnie Jane Sunner, 82, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, with Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or the Clear Lake Library in her name.
Bonnie was born Sept. 8, 1931 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Doris (Prehm) Godfrey. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1949 and then completed two years of junior college. She married Gordon Sunner on June 28, 1953 in Eagle Grove. To this union they had three children, Becky, Bret and Gail.
Bonnie was the activity coordinator for Oakwood Care Center for 20 years, retiring in 1996. During her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering for many different church and community organizations. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
Bonnie is survived by two daughters, Becky (Mike) Sunner Cunningham, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Gail (Steve) Hansen, Clear Lake; sister, Connie Jorgensen, Eagle Grove, and Mary (Mark) Hogenson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Dan Metcalf, Boone, Iowa, and Dr. Paul Sunner, Cedar Rapids; sisters-in-law, Helen Sunner, Las Vegas, Nev., Shirley Sunner, Milford, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon Sunner; her son, Bret Sunner; and her sister, Cindy Metcalf.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
