GHV track girls compete in Bob Sanger Relays

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls learned they have some highlights to look forward to this season and some areas they need to improve as they opened the season at the Bob Sanger Relays, held in Britt, in Tuesday, April 7.

The team placed fourth in the five-team field with 105 points.  Northwood-Kensett won the meet with 178 points.

“It was nice to finally get a meet in.  Weather prevented us from going to an indoor meet.  We really needed to get some times on the girls and see where we are with our field events,” said Coach Dyan Childress.  “We saw some exciting things happen and also some things that we need to hit harder in practice.”

A highlight of the meet was Taylor Vossberg recording her personal best in the high jump with a jump of 5’2”, good enough to place second.

Rebekah Larson also finished as a runner-up in the 3200 meter run with a time of 13:15.72.

•1500 meter run:  Morgan Graham, fifth, 6:31.66; Wellik, sixth, 6:54.80

•3000 meter run:  Mellisa Rich, fifth, 15:10.17

•400 meter hurdles:  Brooklynn Ossman, third, 1:21.12; Jackson, fourth, 1:22.59

•High jump:  Casie Conley, sixth, 4’4”

•Long jump:  Conley, third, 13’4.25”

•4x400 relay:  Danielle Nelson, Prescott, Larson, Whelan, fourth, 5:05.40

•4x200 relay:  Ossman, Nelson, Shelby Scott, Mallory Van Oort, second, 2:05.75
