Andres De La Cruz

Andres (Andy) De La Cruz Sr., 86, of Clear Lake, died at home.  Due to his wishes he was cremated.

A prayer service was held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Clear Lake, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. 

Andres was born in Alamo, Texas, the son of Jose and Benita (Solis) De La Cruz.   He attended school in Alamo.  

Andres moved to Clear Lake in the early 50’s to work for Kennedy’s Vegetable Farm.  After so many years, he moved to Mason City, Iowa, to work at Mason City Brick and Tile Yard. When it closed down he returned to work at Kennedy’s Vegetable Farm, until he retired.

He enjoyed having family and friends over for his barbecues with his special music and very hot peppers.  He also enjoyed cooking, arrowhead hunting, going fishing, and especially his trips to Colorado with family.

He was married to Aurora Muniz (Lozano) and to this union were born four children, Berta (Betty), Jesus (Jesse), Irene and Andres (Andy) Jr.

Andres is survived by his four children; Berta (Jack) Prestholt, Mason City, Jesus De La Cruz, Mason City, Irene Creviston, Mason City, and   Andres (Josie) De La Cruz Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Derek (Dawn) Prestholt, Aaron (Dawn) Prestholt, James (Morgan) Prestholt, Michael Creviston, April Creviston, Andres De La Cruz III and Gabrielle De La Cruz; 12 great-grandchildren Derek Jr., Devon, Drew, Delaine, Dylan Prestholt and Mason Prestholt, Jeseb and Xavier Prestholt, Jazleyn and Michael Jr. Creviston and Natalie and Taylor Creviston; a sister, Juanita Castillo (Philomeno), Mason City, and many relatives too numerous to mention that he loved and cared for.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sons.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
