Shining the light on energy savings
Work is underway by Jim Hunt Electric to make Clear Lake’s 174 decorative light fixtures more efficient. High pressure sodium lights are being replaced with new LEDs which use
75 percent less energy and have a much brighter, white light. The new fixtures also orient the light more downward than the old fixtures. The total cost of the retro-fit upgrade project is $72,000. The city will be getting a $28,000 rebate from Alliant Energy to defray the cost of the project. The project is expected to be completed in the next 10 days.
