Amy E. Hild

Amy Elizabeth Hild, 27, 1390 Rocky Place, Rockford, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, in a car accident. Amy gave in death as she gave in life as a tissue donor. 

A celebration of life was held on Monday, March 2, 2015, at Harvest Bible Chapel, Clear Lake, with Pastor John Tank officiating.  Burial was at the Clear Lake Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to the Amy E. Hild Memorial Fund.  

     Amy was born Sept. 9, 1987, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Steven and Debra (Brosdahl) Hild.  She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 2005.  She attended Wartburg College and graduated from NIACC and the University of Northern Iowa with an Art degree.  While attending NIACC she met the love of her life, Spenser Gruis, and they were to be married on May 15, 2015, at Harvest Bible Chapel.  Throughout high school she worked at the Viking Drive-In in Ventura.  She worked at Community Quick Print in Mason City for two years and was currently working for Latham Hi-Tech Seeds as a graphic designer.

    She loved to share her experiences and stories via social media through her own blog, Modern Rural Living. She traveled extensively to learn about the art of blogging, which she shared with the North Iowa Bloggers group. She loved sharing her life with Spenser and their dog, Patches.  She always had a smile and a kind heart, putting people at ease and lifting their spirits. She and her fiancé, Spenser, had built their dream home together in Rockford. She enjoyed photography, taking pictures of sunsets and food.  She enjoyed listening to Christian Contemporary Music and was a member of Harvest Bible Chapel in Clear Lake.

     Amy is survived by her parents, Steve and Deb Hild, Clear Lake; brother, Eric Hild, Altoona, Iowa; fiancé, Spenser Gruis, Rockford; maternal grandparents, Dennis and Donna Brosdahl, Cresco, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Harold and Lynnette Hild, Alamo, Texas; Spenser’s parents, Scott and Cheryl Gruis, Rockford; aunts and uncles, Lindy and Kent Pearson and their daughter, Natalie, Clive, Iowa, Jim and Donna Hild and their daughter, Laura, Bloomington, Minn., Mark Hild, Cedar Falls, Iowa; Spenser’s grandparents, Russ and Kathy Rosenberg, St. Ansgar, Iowa; Spenser’s brother, Bryce (Michelle) Rosel and their children, Lindsay, Ryan and Nathan, Waukee, Iowa.

     Amy was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Ruth Hild, and Spenser’s paternal grandparents, John and Darlene Gruis.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
