Rev. William R. Dilsaver
The Reverend William Richard “Wil” Dilsaver, 83, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at the Zearing Health Care Center.
Funeral services for William Dilsaver were on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at the Central Christian Church, Waterloo, Iowa. Burial was at the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family c/o his wife: Barb Dilsaver, 19513 County Highway D-15, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126.
William Richard Dilsaver was born July 28, 1931, at Burlington, Iowa, the son of William Howard and Geneva [Galer] Dilsaver. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1949. He received his BA Degree from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, and received his Master of Divinity from Drake University Seminary. He was ordained into the Disciples of Christ Denomination on June 27, 1954 at Cedar Christian Church in Cedar Rapids. He served Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) over 50 years. He ministered in Eldora, Earlham (Early Chapel), Whitten, and Clear Lake. He was an interim minister for Bondurant, Coggan, Iowa Falls, and Central Christian of Waterloo. From 1964 to 1970 he worked with the Iowa Society of Christian Churches of the Upper Midwest. During that time he also served as Chaplain for the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol in Des Moines. In 1978 he joined the National Benevolent Association (NBA) as fund raiser for Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) Ramsey Home in Des Moines. In 1984 he moved to Iowa Falls as Director of Development and Alumni Affairs at Ellsworth Community College.
During his career he sold promotional advertising for Vernon Co. in Newton and sold insurance for Federated Mutual Insurance Co. and Life Investors. Before retiring he owned Promotional Products of Iowa and R. J.’s Advertising.
On Sept. 2, 1951 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Rich in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Kathy, Mike, Mark, and Janet. On Dec. 22, 1990 he was united in marriage to Barbara Hartman in Iowa Falls.
Wil Dilsaver is survived by his wife, Barbara Dilsaver, of Iowa Falls; his children, Kathy Rinkenberger, of Ankeny, Iowa, Mike [Jane] Dilsaver, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mark [Rhonda] Dilsaver, of Des Moines, Iowa, Janet [Brad] Kinman, of Grimes, Iowa; his grandchildren, Gerod [Missy] Rinkenberger, Bob [Andrea] Rinkenberger, Aaron Dilsaver, Kaitlin [Collin McCormick] Dilsaver, Allison Kinman, Brady Kinman; and two great grandchildren, Macyn and Cooper Rinkenberger; two sisters, Shirley Finke, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, Nancy [Jim] Dearman, of Fort Mills, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Geneva Dilsaver; a son-in-law, Gary Rinkenberger; and a brother-in-law, Leo Finke.
