Lions move to top of NCC

The Clear Lake boys improved to 6-2 with a two-point win over North Central Conference rival Humboldt Tuesday, Jan. 9.  The Lions moved to the top of the NCC standings with a 78-76 victory.  They are now 5-0 in the NCC.  Humboldt and Algona are next at 4-1.

Four players finished in double figures for the Lions.

Matt Stephany led the way with 22 points, three assists and three blocked shots.  Fellow seniors Tamarik Lee finished with 16 points and a team high seven rebounds and Devin Uhlenhopp had 13 points.  Sophomore Thomas Storbeck rounded out the scoring quartet with 10 points.

Brock Adams orchestrated much of the offense, dishing out 10 assists and collecting eight points for himself.  The senior also had two steals. 

Tanner Storbeck added five points for the Lions, while Tucker Tusha and Parker Truesdell had two points apiece.

The Lions opened the game by taking a 21-17 first quarter lead, but the home team answered the call in the second quarter and took a 35-34 lead into the locker room at halftime.  

After a nearly even third quarter the Lions poured it on in the fourth, outscoring the Wildcats 24-18, to earn the victory.
