Busy week on the mat for GHV grapplers

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura wrestling team had a busy week on the mat, competing in a triangular on Tuesday night and a quadrangular on Thursday night.

GHV Triangular

The Cardinals hosted a triangular with Forest City and Central Springs  on Tuesday, Dec. 15.  It was a tough night for GHV, as they dropped both matches.  They lost to Forest City, 45-36 and to Central Springs by one point, 34-33.

“It was rough night.  We had a couple of kids out sick and that hurt us,” said Coach Steve Smith.

Andrew Dornbier and Colyn Schoneman recorded two pins apiece.

Individual results of the meet are as follows:

•Austin Case (106 pounds): 2-0, pinned Caleb Pate, of Central Springs in 2:31 and pinned Forest City’s Alex Fett in 5:06. 

•Tyler Oberman (113 pounds): 0-2, lost by fall to Coleman Waters of Central Springs, :22 and lost by a 6-2 decision to Forest City’s Will Kirschbaum.

•Andrew Dornbier (120 pounds): 2-0, pinned Central Spring’s Dylin Pate in 1:24 and pinned Brandon Finch, of Forest City, in 4:15.

•Dalton Basinger (126 pounds): 2-0, won by a 6-4 decision over Central Spring’s Chris Holt and won by forfeit against Forest City.

•Colyn Schoneman (132 pounds): 2-0, pinned Cole Neal in :45 from Central Springs and pinned Forest City’s Maverick Freerksen in :38.

•Jade Pringnitz (138 pounds): 0-2, was pinned by Dylan Mueller of Central Springs in 1:39 and lost by fall in 2:57 to Forest City’s Pierce Gelhaus.

•Spencer Formanek (145 pounds): 0-2, was pinned by Alex Hackett, of Central Springs, in 1:46 and by Austin Lewis, of Forest City, in 1:05.

•Daniel Dantas (152 pounds): 0-2, was pinned by Central Spring’s Levi Nettleton in 2:55 and lost by fall in 2:30 to Forest City’s Easton Jacobs.

•Connor Shaw (160 pounds): 1-1, lost by a 7-1 decision to Kegen Fingalsen of Central Springs and pinned Forest City’s Landon Josten in 1:15.

•Cade Baker (170 pounds): 1-1, pinned Jacob Shafer, of Central Springs, in 2:22 and was pinned by Forest City’s Beau Sorenson in 2:59.

•Nathan Klesel (182 pounds): 0-2, was pinned by Nick Miller, of Central Springs, in :34 and was pinned in 3:26 by Forest City’s Triston Springer.

•Connor Smith (195 pounds): 2-0, pinned Central Spring’s Alex Prestholt in :33 and pinned Noah Paulson, of Forest City, in 3:55.

Garner Quadrangular
