Harold T. Brood
Harold T. Brood, 77, Clear Lake, died Dec. 1, 2014, at the Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
A Memorial Service was held on Friday, Dec. 5, at the Open Bible Church, 609 S. 8th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Will Hunsaker officiating.
Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, at a later date. Military Honors will be presented by the Clear Lake V.F.W. Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa in his name.
Harold Thomas was born June 30, 1937 in Swaledale, Iowa, the son of Hans Peter and Marie (Kjorsgaard) Brood. He attended Swaledale schools and helped his father with the family farm. Harold married Marietta Devin on Jan. 4, 1964, in Thornton, Iowa. He worked as a fertilizer salesman for First Mississippi Corp. and later IMC.
He enjoyed farming and raising hogs. He was always driving around and checking out the crops. He loved going to casino’s and on fishing trips. He enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his three children, Thomas (Laura) Brood, DeSoto, Wis., Cynthia Winters, Clear Lake, and Stacy Brood, Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Elaina, Joseph, Alicia, Ericka and Courtney; brother, Robert Brood, Swaledale; and sisters, Esther Ward, Swaledale, and Karen Cornick, Mason City.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marietta on Aug. 24, 2006; and two brothers, Hans and Jack Brood.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
