Eugene G. King

Eugene Guy King, 77, 200 10th Ave. N., Clear Lake, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at the I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City, Iowa.  

     A memorial Service will be held  at 10 a.m., Dec. 6, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Pastor Dave Byrd, Chaplain I.O.O.F. Home, officiating.  Visitation with family will be Friday, Dec. 5, from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Eugene King Memorial Fund.

Eugene was born April 6, 1937, in Cleveland, Okla., the son of Lionel G. and Beulah (Neafus) King. The family moved to Russell, Kan. when he was six months old. He graduated from Russell High School, Russell, in 1954.  He married Shirley Burnett on April 10, 1955, in Russell.  Two children were born to this union, Anthony Wade and Christiania Ann.  They moved to Lions, Kan. where he owned and operated a filling station.  In 1963 they moved to Rosemount, Minn. where he was a pipeline operator for Hydrocarbon Trans. Co.  He was transferred to Lemont, Ill., in 1967, then to Coralville, Iowa, in 1969 and to Clear Lake in 1970.  

Eugene married Louise Wawczak Schussler on Dec. 14, 1971, in Clear Lake.  They moved to Altoona, Iowa in 1978, where he was manager of operations at HTI Terminal in Des Moines and Plattsmouth, Neb. where he was manager of HTI Terminal, retiring in 1993.  Eugene then worked as a third party consultant for Pipeline companies, retiring in 2007.  

He was a charter member of the Clear Lake Evening Lions.  

Eugene is survived by his wife, Louise King, Clear Lake; son, Terri (Janet) Saaranun, McCallister, Okla.; daughter, Christiana DePaul, Coon Rapids, Minn.; adopted children, Nanette (Art) Perry, Altoona, Janet Eaton, Des Moines, Iowa, Richard (Bethyl) Schussler, Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Alex Perry, Altoona, Sgt. Jesse Hutchins, Colfax, Iowa, SrA Zachary Schussler, stationed in England, Rebekah Perry, Altoona, Shelby Eaton, Kellogg, Iowa, Courtney Eaton, Lynnville, Iowa, Kaitlie Ross, Omaha, Neb., Amber Schussler, Omaha, Patrick and Sarah DePaul, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Hayden Perry and Will Stoddard; brother, Ron (Rosie) King, Tulsa, Okla.; sister-in-law, Lene King, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil King and Glyn King; sister-in-law, Ruth King; and nephew, Bobby King.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
