Dale N. Clapper
Dale N. Clapper, 73, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at the First Covenant Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.

Dale Norman Clapper was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Mason City, the son of Dallas L. and Ethel Ruth Viola (Prestholt) Clapper. He grew up on a farm north of Clear Lake and graduated from Fertile Consolidated in 1960. On Aug. 26, 1962, he was united in marriage to Janice K. Milton in Manly, Iowa. Over the years, he worked at various jobs including Clear Lake Bakery driving truck for 13 years and the Cerro Gordo County Secondary Road Department, where he graded roads and ran the snow plows for 12 years. He retired in 2006.
Dale enjoyed spending time with his family, helping others, hunting (deer and pheasant), antiques, wood working, collecting gas pumps, gardening and sharing his produce with family and friends. He was a member of the First Covenant Church. Dale was a loving person who would do anything for anyone. He will be deeply missed.
Dale is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Clapper, of Clear Lake; two children, David Clapper and his wife, Christine, of Clear Lake, and Chad Clapper his wife, Angela, of Clear Lake; son-in-law, Jeffrey Powers, of Indian Mound, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Blanche Schulze, of Clear Lake; and his nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Denise Powers.
Arrangements were with Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory, Mason City, Iowa.
