Police transition into half of new space
It’s business as usual at the Clear Lake Police Department. And that’s saying something.
Without so much as a minute downtime, the department has seamlessly moved into its new headquarters-- the former fire department garage at City Hall. The garage has been renovated to provide space for a dispatch center, officer’s room, locker room, armory, booking room and interrogation rooms.
“The new area is only about half as much as the total area we will have when it is complete, but already we are enjoying space we’ve never had before,” explained Police Chief Rex McChesney. “For example, it’s the first time we’ve had an armory and locker rooms.”
A separate, secure entrance for officers to use when bringing a subject in for booking is also something new. A pair of interrogation rooms and a private area for the public to discuss concerns with an officer have also been incorporated into the new design.
