Rose M. Peckham
Rose Marie Peckham, 77, Clear Lake, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.
A funeral service for Rose will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at the First Congregational Church, 205 West 10th Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Pastor Bernie Colorado officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Wednesday at the church.
Rose Marie (Johnson) Peckham was born on Sept. 15, 1936, in Mason City, the daughter of Theodore and LaVone (Albright) Johnson. She received her education in the Clear Lake Community Schools, graduating from Clear Lake High School.
Rose was united in marriage to Donald Peckham on Feb. 13, 1954, in Northwood, and had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past February. Five children were born to the marriage; Tyies, Donald, Jr., Vickie, Linda and Ted.
Rose worked as the pastry supervisor for the Clear Lake Bakery for 35 years until her retirement. Rose also made wedding cakes for her children and others in the area. She also sold toys for Playhouse Toys and jewelry for Parklane Jewelry.
Rose and Don loved to camp and travel throughout the United States and overseas. Rose won a trip to Paris and she also traveled extensively in Europe.
She enjoyed sewing, making silk flowers, quilting, and reading, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, and the Clear Lake VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don Peckham, of Clear Lake; children, Tyies (Ron) Andersen, of Clear Lake, Vickie (Raymond) Greeley, of Clear Lake, Linda (David) Richardson, of Clear Lake, and Ted (Lisa) Peckham of Minot, N.D.; 10 grandchildren, Ally and Ryan Andersen, Darell (Amy) Peckham, Dan (Abbie) Shipton, Jennifer and Scott Shipton, Brenda (Brian) Horneff, Olivia Richardson, Dylan (Shiho) Peckham, and Heather Peckham; five great-grandchildren, Jackson and Landon Peckham, Christgen Peirce, Destiny Pabst, and Charlie Shipton; her sister, Mary Ann (Delbert) Seible of Green Bay, Wis.; many nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members and friends.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Peckham, Jr.; and a grandson, Jesse Richardson.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
