Three Lions named INA All-State selections

The Iowa Newspaper Association announced its 2014 All-State Baseball selections Tuesday, selecting first, second, third teams and team captains for classes 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A.
 Three Clear Lake players received All-State recognition.

  Brock Adams was a Class 3A First Team pick as an infielder. The junior batted .454 through 35 games. His 49 hits included six doubles and two home runs. He finished the season with 28 RBIs. His solid hitting resulted in a .563 on-base percentage and slugging average of .565.
Clear Lake was also represented on the All-State list by senior Pete Swenson, a Second Team choice. Swenson, an infielder, batted .429 through 33 games. He smacked four home runs and 17 doubles during his senior campaign. His 38 RBIs topped the Lion team and gave him a slugging percentage of .705.
Outfielder Mitch Keeran was a Third Team All-State selection. The junior batted .398, with an on-base percentage of .527 and slugging percentage of .563. Keeran stroked 11 doubles and two home runs in 35 games played. He batted in 30 runs.
The INA selected four seniors as All-State team captains: 4A, Malique Ziegler, Des Moines East; 3A, Weston Shaw, Algona; 2A, Cole Jackson, North Polk; and 1A, Hunter Embray, Twin Cedars.
