Darreld Petersen Jr.

 Darreld F. “Buzz” Petersen Jr., 63, of Clear Lake, Iowa died Friday June 6, 2014 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa. A celebration of Darreld F. Petersen’s life was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Inurnment was in the Sacred Catholic Church Cemetery, Rockwell, Iowa, with 

military honors provided by the Manly American Legion Post #110. Family suggests memorials to Beverly Petersen.
 Darreld was born Dec. 21, 1950 in Knoxville, Tenn., the son of Darreld and Zelma Mary (Schnebly) Petersen Sr. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following the service he married Beverly Millard on Oct. 27, 1973 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manly, Iowa. He worked for Wayne Feeds, Winnebago Industries and farmed and then later work for Kraft Foods until he retired. Darreld enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, spending the winters in Texas, reading books, playing cards with his family and his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
 He is survived by his wife, Beverly Petersen, Clear Lake; two sons, Darren W. (Renee) Petersen, Grafton, Iowa, and Darreld (Shila) Petersen III, Mason City; eight grandchildren, Nicole Petersen, Ryan Petersen, Jenna Petersen, Luke Petersen, Ethan Petersen, Gaven Miller, Ryleigh McFarland and Camden Petersen; two brothers, Cliff H. (Mary) Petersen, and William B. “Surf” (Margaret) Petersen, both of Clear Lake; sister, Zelene (Mark) Schilling, Meservey, Iowa; brother-in-law, LaVern (Rosemary) Millard, Independence, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
