Cardinals fall to Humboldt
It was a tough night for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls soccer team, with a few key players competing in the State Track Meet. The Cardinals fell to Humboldt, 4-1, on Thursday, May 22.
“It will be really nice when we get our full team back. The girls have stepped up with key girls being gone,” said Coach Josh
Banse.
Coach Banse is excited to get the full time back together, just in time for Regional play that begins Tuesday, June 3, at Clear Lake.
Hannah Sokol scored GHV’s lone goal with an assist from Payton Bamrick.
Bri Bier had six shots on goal.
Goal keeper Sam Betz had three saves in the match.
Coach Banse praised the play of Mackenzie Haag. “Mackenzie is turning into a dominate player in the middle of the field and doing a nice job.”
The team is home against Webster City on Thursday, May 29, at 5:30 p.m., before facing Clear Lake in the opening round of Regional play at Clear Lake at 6 p.m., June 3.
