GHV girls golf team making big strides
The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls golf team made big improvements in just one night, as they bettered their team score on a more difficult course to top West Fork, 205-235, on Tuesday, April 22.
“I was pleased to see us bounce back from Monday’s meet at Clear Lake,” said Coach Todd Greiman. “I am, however, still looking for that night when we see four girls break 50.”
Two girls broke 50 Tuesday night. Madee Hejna shot a 48 and Kim Dornbier recorded a 49.
“Madee showed great improvement and Kim continues to consistently score well,” said Greiman. “Three other girls have shot under 50 previously, so hopefully we’ll get that sub-200 score soon.”
Rounding out the score was Kyleigh Slaichert with a 53 and Tamara O’Hara with a 55. The fifth and sixth golfers were Whitney Watson who carded a 59 and Elly Johnston with a 62.
The girls travel to to Spring Valley Golf Course on Saturday, May 3, for the Bishop Garrigan Tournament. Tee time is 9 a.m.
