GHV girls win North Iowa golf meet
Coach Todd Greiman was expecting Monday nights gusty wind to take a toll on his player’s scores, but that wasn’t the case, as the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls golf team took top honors at the North Iowa meet. GHV’s score of 216 topped North Iowa’s 244 and Belmond-Klemme’s team score of 319.
The medals went to the Cardinals. Kyleigh Slaichert was the medalist with a 50 and Kim Dornbier was the runner-up with a 51. Rounding out the score was Whitney Watson, 55 and Madee Hejna, 60. Tamara O’Hara also shot a 60 and Elly Johnston carded a 62.
“Kyleigh, Kim and Whitney were able to shoot competitively in spite of the conditions,” said Greiman. “The girls continue to play very consistent golf and I’m still optimistic that they can all bring down their scores a couple of strokes to make us very competitive.”
The team travels to Osage on Monday, April 28. The meet begins at 4 p.m.
