Head-on collision sends four to hospital
Four persons were seriously injured Tuesday night, April 8, in a head-on collision at Highway 18 and McIntosh Road, west of Clear Lake.
At 9:32 p.m. the Clear Lake Police Department received a report of the collision.
Driver Phyllis J. Sobek, of Klemme, Iowa was westbound on Highway 18 when she collided with an oncoming eastbound vehicle driven by Shawn L. Bridges, of Thompson, Iowa. After Bridges’ vehicle was struck, he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a pickup driven by Daniel J.
Sobek, of Klemme.
All three drivers and a passenger in the Bridges vehicle, Timothy Olson, of Dows, Iowa were transported to Mercy Medical Center in Mason City for treatment.
Tuesday, Mercy Medical Center spokesperson Jodi Ball reported none of the four patients admitted to the hospital were still patients.
Clear Lake police were assisted by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Clear Lake Fire Department, Ventura Fire Department, Clear Lake Ambulance and Garner Ambulance.
