CL girls open soccer season with a 1-0 win over A-P

The Clear Lake girls soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 win over Aplington-Parkersburg Monday night, April 7.

“It was a total team effort,” said new Head Coach Nick DiMarco.  “I was particularly impressed on how the upper classmen played well together and helped the newer members of our team get acclimated to a game situation.”

The Lions’ only goal came in the 53rd minute by Kaye Faber with an assist from Bailey Kibsgaard.

“Defensively, Madison Faber and Erin O’Tool turned away every attack that A-P threw at us,” said DiMarco.  “Offensively, we put lots of pressure on their back line, out-shooting Aplington 6-2.”

Clear Lake goalie Ellie Biebesheimer had a clean sheet, stopping all shots on goal.
