Fischer receives IHSAA Media Award

Bob Fischer, news director for Three Eagles Radio in Mason City,  recently received the IHSAA Media Award.

Fischer is a familiar voice to audiences in North Central Iowa.  He has been the voice of Clear Lake athletics, as well as other area high schools and college teams.  He has been the news director at Three Eagles Radio since 2000.  

Fischer blended a strong musical background with an interest in broadcasting.  He is a 1990 Mason City High School graduate, where he was a three-time All-State musician.  He went on to attend the University of Iowa, where he excelled in symphony, jazz and marching bands, while working for Iowa’s student run radio station and doing play-by-play coverage for women’s basketball and baseball, as well as co-hosting a sports talk show.  Following graduation, he worked for stations in Mason City and Decorah before returning to KRIB-KLSS in Mason City in 1995.

He is a past-president and long time board member of the Iowa Broadcast News Association.  He has won 43 IBNA awards for his work in news and sports broadcasting in the last 10 years.  He resides in Mason City.
