CL boys stay undefeated

The Clear Lake boys went into the holiday break with a 6-0 record and a good deal of confidence following their 76-40 win Eagle Grove Friday, Dec. 20.

The Lions got off to a slow start on the road, but midway through the first quarter they found their offensive rhythm and rolled from there.  They stretched a 20-10 first quarter lead into a 43-17 halftime score.

“We didn’t play real well for the first four minutes, but after that, we were able to get the tempo in our favor and did a nice job over the last three and a half quarters,” said Coach Kevin Kahler.   “We were able to get all 15 guys in the game and get 11 of them in the scoring column, so it was a good night for everybody.  This was a good way for us to go into the break.  We’re off to a great start; hopefully we can keep it going.”

Senior Brock Adams and junior Jack Abbas each scored 16 in the game.  Adams also dished out six assists and had three steals in the North Central  Conference win.  Seniors Chase Lester and Davis Dieken scored eight apiece and teammate Pete Swenson put in seven.  Tamarik Lee came off the bench to score six and Alex Webb finished with five points.  Mark Peterson and Matt Stephany each had three points and Jake Iverson and Tanner Storbeck got into the book with two points apiece.

Dieken controlled the boards, pulling down three rebounds on offense and six on defense.  He also had four blocked shots in the game.

The Lions sit atop the North Central Conference standings with a 6-0 record.  St. Ed’s is also undefeated in the NCC at 5-0.  The two teams are slated to play Jan. 9 in Clear Lake.
